If you are going to buy a new smartphone or waiting for your favourite smartphone to launch, you need to hear this because it will be important for your budget. On Monday 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Budget 2021, in which there will 2.5% extra import charge will be added on imported mobile parts and other Electronic items.
This may include smartphone chargers, electronic circuit board, mobile board, camera modules, etc, this is done to promote local manufacturing in India, so this may affect the overall prices of the finished goods in the upcoming future.
Many of the smartphones companies already free their smartphone boxes from the chargers, companies like Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi already removed charger from their boxes, it seems like now most of the smartphone companies will do that to make the smartphone look cheaper or you can try to make a profit.
Increase Prices in Smartphones and Other Electronic Goods
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Domestic electronic manufacturing has grown rapidly. We are now exporting items like mobiles and chargers. For greater domestic value addition, we are withdrawing a few exemptions on parts of chargers and sub-parts of mobiles. Further, some parts of mobiles will move from the ‘nil’ rate to a moderate 2.5 per cent”.
